Painting for Wellbeing
Experience the calm and relaxation of painting as a mindfulness practice
Drawing and painting are not just for artists. When approached with mindfulness, creative practices become powerful tools for focus, relaxation, and well-being. In this six-week course, you’ll explore simple, accessible ways to use art as a form of meditation and self-expression. Each session combines art and mindfulness techniques designed to help you develop a deeper sense of presence, calm, and joy. As we shift from striving to noticing, from judgment to curiosity, we’ll discover how creativity can reconnect us with our natural wisdom so we may move beyond stress and to reclaim a life of awe and wonder. This is a space for play, reflection, and personal insight—no art or meditation experience required.

Abstract Freedom is more than an art class—it’s an invitation to release the patterns, judgments, and expectations that hold you back, and to discover the spaciousness that mindfulness can bring to your art. You’ll not only expand your range as an artist but also cultivate a mindful, nourishing practice that infuses your life with greater openness, authenticity, and creative vitality.

Whether you’re refining a project, overcoming blocks, or simply craving a more conscious relationship with your art, this space offers thoughtful structure, and gentle accountability and encouragement.

Your Guide on the Path
Marlowe Emerson is a visual artist with years of dedicated study in artistic expression and meditative practices. What began as personal exploration evolved into a passion for sharing these transformative experiences with others. She currently works in her home studio in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
